This past week reminded me how quickly setbacks can steal our joy if we let them. Not because they’re huge, but because they interrupt the rhythm we finally felt good about.
Sometimes it only takes one thing — an injury, a delay, a bad day — to try and knock the wind out of us.
But here’s what I’m learning:
Setbacks don’t erase progress.
They don’t cancel momentum.
And they don’t mean you’re failing.
They’re pauses — uncomfortable ones — that ask us to adjust without quitting.
In these moments, I’m learning how important it is to look for joy on purpose. To focus on the things that still make me smile.
For me, a rough week felt a whole lot lighter after a little visit with my grandest girl — the kind of joy that reminds you what really matters. The kind that makes life feel so much brighter.
If you’re facing a setback or walking through an unpleasant season, I hope you’ll find something — or someone — that brings light back into your days.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
You’re not starting over.
You’re still moving — just differently.
Keep blooming, even when you have to limp a little
